The front rows at the autumn/winter 2023 shows during Paris Fashion Week are always star-studded. This past week, Emma Roberts, Zendaya, Emily Ratajkowski and Avril Lavigne all made cameos. Also on the scene was singer Ciara, who touched down in the City of Light to attend the Dundas show (as well as Elie Saab and Giambattista Valli). “Being at Paris Fashion Week is always a very special experience,” Ciara tells Vogue. “It’s especially memorable for me because I often mark time with my moments in fashion; I tend to remember events by what I wore, so being here and wearing incredible fashion is like a dream that will forever be etched into my memory.”
A regular VIP fixture during fashion month, she was once again looking forward to being inspired by this season’s fresh design concepts. “Each show is an experience of the senses,” says Ciara. “I am inspired by seeing the latest trends, and meeting some of the best creators in the world.” Of course, she’s also never one to turn down a trip to one of the most romantic cities in the world. “My favourite thing about Paris is not only the beautiful language, but the incredibly strong sense of fashion that is woven into the fabric of this city,” she says.
At the Dundas show, Ciara was excited to support designer Peter Dundas, who is a close friend of hers. “He always gets it right,” says Ciara, who is a fan of his sexy clothes. “He knows how to make women feel sexy with beautiful silhouettes. There’s nothing better than to be at Paris Fashion Week and supporting your friend on his journey.” Her favourite looks in the collection were the ones she could envision wearing for a night out. “The sheer black crystal halter dress is one of my favourites,” says Ciara. “Incredibly sexy and bold – it’s definitely a dress I want!”
Of course, she needed her own alluring look for her front row appearance, too. She went for all-black – but, given it was totally sheer, it was anything but simple. “Peter put together my look for the show: It’s chic, sexy, and romantic all in one,” says Ciara of her naked-style dress. She loved the hint of lingerie peeking out underneath. “I love the combination of the sheer fabric with the garters showing underneath,” says Ciara. “It’s intricately balancing the intersection of classic, sexy and edgy, and yet still demure. That’s the genius of Peter.”
Clearly inspired by what she saw during fashion month, Ciara says she will be bringing some fresh style ideas to her very own fashion house, The House of LR&C, which she co-founded with husband Russell Wilson in 2020. “I’m looking forward to growing as an entrepreneur,” says Ciara. She also has plans to release new music. “I have been teasing a new song for my fans called ‘Da Girls’, which is a fun anthem about women’s empowerment,” says Ciara. “I am excited to be releasing new music soon!”
