Slovakia vs Wales Prediction and Betting Tips

Date:

Slovakia
Wales

SLOVAKIA host Wales in an international friendly on Sunday as they crank up preparations ahead of the European Championship. The Slovaks have shown some quality lately, particularly at home and should have the upper hand over Wales, who are looking a bit erratic.

Having looked solid throughout the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, Slovakia will be aiming to build some momentum before the tournament kicks off. They were rampant on Wednesday, claiming a 4-0 victory over San Marino in their previous international friendly.

That result extends Slovakia’s recent good form as they have now won eight of their last 12 matches across all competitions. The victory also means Francesco Calzona’s men have won three of their last four home matches.

Wales had a disappointing qualifying campaign and are not going to the European Championship. Their recent form has been less than stellar with just one win from their last five matches.

The Welsh have also found things difficult on their recent travels, claiming just one win from their last nine away matches. Rob Page’s men travel to Slovakia off the back of a 0-0 draw with Gibraltar in their previous fixture.

How the bookies view it: Everything points Slovakia

Slovakia have the upper hand among the bookies and are priced at 21/20 by bet365 to claim the win. An unlikely victory for Wales is valued at 9/5 while a draw is set at odds of 23/10.

Head to head: Wales with the edge

Wales have a 3-1 advantage with one draw from five previous matches against Slovakia. The only draw in that run came during the Euro 2020 qualifiers as both teams battled to a 1-1 scoreline.

Players to watch: Haraslin to maintain heat

Lukas Haraslin has been in good form lately and was on target against San Marino on Wednesday. The forward has three goals in the last three international appearances and is priced at 11/4 by bet365 to maintain his scoring run.

Kieffer Moore should lead the line for Wales on Sunday and will be the one tasked with providing the spark in attack. The striker was on target in the last meeting with Slovakia and is priced at 5/2 by bet365 to find the net once again.

Probable line-ups

Slovakia are likely to ring in the changes on Sunday with Robert Bozenik likely to feature in attack. Stanislav Lobotka and Ondrej Duda are also in line to be given a run-out in midfield.

Kieffer Moore was a second half substitute for Wales in Gibraltar and is likely to play from the start on Sunday. Daniel James and Brennan Johnson are also expected to feature having come off the bench on Thursday.

Slovakia: Rodak, De Marko, Skriniar, Gyomber, Pekarik, Duda, Lobotka, Hrosovsky, Suslov, Haraslin, Bozenik
Wales: King, Stevens, Low, Cabango, James, Savage, Sheehan, Burns, Dasilva, Johnson, Moore

Anything else catch the eye?

Slovakia and Wales know their way to goal and both teams could be backed to score at 5/6 with bet365. The Slovaks have seen over 2.5 goals in three of their last four home matches and a repeat is priced at 11/10 by bet365 while over 3.5 goals is valued at 11/4.

Having scored in both halves in two of their last three home matches, Slovakia could be set for a similar pattern at 5/2 with bet365.
